Our client has a requirement for a Buyer to join their purchasing team. You will assist the Procurement Manager in the management of the Supplier Base. Building long-term relationships with high quality suppliers, ensuring they comply with the Company’s approval standards. Ensuring the procurement function within the Company is operating efficiently and effectively. Purchasing training and development will be provided to enhance current skill sets.
The main duties of the role are:
• Establish and maintain purchasing policies and procedures
• Raising of purchase orders
• Management of Contracts
• Initiate purchasing projects
• Negotiation of best price, delivery and service for purchased requirements
You will need a technical background, have a good understanding of manufacturing processes and can read technical drawings. In addition, you should have good solid purchasing experience with a manufacturing/ engineering company.
Some experience with MRP systems will be advantageous. There will be an upgrade to ERP system early 2021.
Business Studies or Engineering qualification.
CIPS qualification is a plus, or you must be willing to study in the future.
Good with people skills both internal and with suppliers.
Being a team player is very important and deal with pressure sometimes.
Does not mind repetition of daily tasks (E.g. order placement and expediting)
