Our client has a full time vacancy for a mail room and stores assistant. The role is working 37 hours per week, 8am till 4.30pm and is a fixed term contract till December 2023. You will work within a small team and be responsible for Goods Inwards work relating to the booking, collection, storage and transfer goods, the collection and delivery of mail across the site and processing outgoing post and parcels. All incoming deliveries will be input onto the tracking system. Communication with the recipients whether by e-mail, telephone or face to face must be clear and concise and undertaken in a professional and timely manner. Excellent Customer Service skills are essential to this role. The administration of the goods inwards and collection process also includes the storage and separation of personal/business packages, an awareness of the value and relevance of the goods and arranging deliveries. Business items delivered against a Purchase Order are required to be correctly matched and goods receipted. You will need to scan and add deliveries onto the parcel tracking software. On average, 1,500 -2,500 per month are recorded. Once on the system, the recipients are notified by email. The post holder will need to assist with the organization and delivery of some of the parcels across the site. The post holder will need to work on the customer collection counter ensuring that all collections are processed correctly to ensure proof of collection and an audit trail is accurate. Throughout the day the post holder must be flexible and able to prioritize workload by communicating with Staff, customers and delivery drivers, working equally between the Mail Room and Goods Inwards is essential. The Post holder will also work in the Mailroom. This will include the booking and dispatch of courier items using the online portal to initiate the shipment and collection of parcels, including International shipments. The post holder will also sort incoming mail and deliver to up to 60 locations around the site. The post holder is required to deliver a high level of Customer Service including investigating numerous enquiries about deliveries by telephone or email. The post holder must hold a clean and valid manual Driving License and be able to undertake the physical aspects of the job role. During the absence of the Storekeeper, cover may be required to order and issue maintenance items and general supplies for the site. A “can do” and collaborative attitude is essential, ensuring that all activities of the Goods Inwards and the Mail room are completed in a timely and organized manner. Training will be provided for the role, however previous experience in a logistics role would be desirable.
